The Fox and the Goat: In the fox and the goat, I believe the maxim is you should think before you act. The goat decided to blindly trust the fox, and didn't think better that the fox might be trying to actually take advantage of the goat and using it to save itself. The goat, in the end, may not have been stuck at the bottom of the well, had he thought about this and taken into account that the fox could have been lying.
The Crow and the Pitcher: In this story at first sadly a crow was almost dead from his thirst for water, and when he finally found water he couldn't reach it, causing the crow to give up in despair after attempting to reach the water several times. However he got an idea and was able to quench its thirst. I believe the morale is with diligence you can really achieve what may seem impossible. For the crow to stay determined and think up an idea that would get him what he really needed, paid off. It realized dropping pebbles in the pot raised the water level, allowing him to reach the water. The crow needed water and his diligence and right idea fulfilled his necessity.
The Fisher and the Littles Fish: In this story the fish attempted to convince the fisher to let him go, so it can grow and he can then make a fine meal out of him later. The maxim in this story is it's better to have something regardless of whether it's small, as opposed to only maybe having something bigger/better. The fish made an effort to persuade the fisherman that he should let him go now, so he can grow and then serve as a better meal, where as the fisherman realized that he may not catch the fish when it got bigger, so he instead just appreciated what he had and decided to just keep the fish regardless small or big.
The Four Oxen and the Lion: The maxim in this story I believe is united we stand and divided we fall. In the story when the four oxen were together they were able to help each other to defend themselves against the lion. However while quarreling amongst themselves and seperating in their own ways, it left them vulnerable to the lion, allowing the lion to finally attack them individually.
The Wolf In Sheep's Clothing: The moral of this story I believe is that looks can be decieving. In the story the sheep's skin was carelessly thrown to the side. The wolf seeing an opportunity decided to take advantage of this and lure the sheep away.
